We provide care and treatment for children and youth diagnosed with Epilepsy. This program ensures that children and youth have access to the required medication to live seizure-free. This program targets children and youth from vulnerable homes with no ability to afford treatment and care for this condition. The program also supports livelihoods and social inclusion interventions for the youth and their caregivers.
- Provide treatment, medication, diagnosis and therapy services.
- Training of CHPs on early identification, referral and intervention for children with disabilities
- Facilitate disability awareness through the monthly community dialogue and action days
- Facilitate access to integrated Technical & Life Skills Training (CBT); Entrepreneurial/financial management training; and mentorship/coaching for youths with disabilities
- Facilitate Business Development support Services (credit, technical support, market information, tools/inputs/kits etc.)
- Train children and youth with disabilities on life skills.
- Offer guidance and counselling for children and youth with disabilities.
- Build the capacity of parents and caregivers on the importance of NHIF/UHC services, Children Act 2021 and/or facilitate access to the services (free medical services, additional budget allocation to the disability mainstreaming fund.)
Results:
- Reach 40 children and youth with epilepsy care and treatment
- 80% of the children and youth on medication are seizure-free
- Five youths were provided with entrepreneurship support and are now able to get some income
- We have reached more than 50 caregivers on the importance of supporting children and youth with disabilities to attain social assets like NCPWD cards, NHIF, ID cards for them to access special services.
- We continuously offer guidance and counseling to children and the youth.
